  • "Romano Guardini, einflussreicher Denker des 20. Jahrhunderts, warnte bereits vor einem blinden Glauben an Machtzuwachs als reine Fortschritte in Sicherheit, Nutzen und Lebensqualität. Er betonte, dass Macht eine mehrdeutige Kraft sei, die sowohl Gutes als auch Böses bewirken könne, abhängig von den Absichten und der moralischen Grundlage ihres Gebrauchs. Bereits 1950 schrieb Romano Guardini: „Der neuzeitliche Mensch meint, jede Zunahme an Macht sei automatisch Fortschritt: mehr Sicherheit, mehr Nutzen, mehr Wohlfahrt, mehr Lebenskraft, mehr Wertsättigung.“ Doch Guardini warnt auch: „In Wahrheit ist Macht etwas zutiefst Mehrdeutiges. Sie kann Gutes wie Böses bewirken, aufbauen, wie zerstören. Was sie wird, hängt von der Gesinnung ab, die sie leitet, und vom Zweck, dem sie dient.“ [...] Romano Guardini ergänzte diese Definition [von Max Weber, HZ], indem er Macht als die Fähigkeit beschrieb, Realität aktiv zu gestalten. Macht ist demnach nicht nur eine statische Kraft, sondern eine dynamische, die Menschen dazu befähigt, andere zu Handlungen oder Veränderungen zu bewegen, auch wenn diese nicht unbedingt ihren eigenen Überzeugungen entsprechen. „Macht ist dann gegeben, wenn sie mit bewusster Freiheit verbunden ist – und diese besitzt nur der Mensch.“ Er beschreibt Macht zugleich als: „Fähigkeit, Realität zu bewegen.“"
